Cells medium size with 2 (3) radiate structures. Cells broader than long or sometime as broad as long measures 43-48 µm in length and 46-54 µm in breadth. Cells deeply constricted, sinus open widely outside, isthmus 12-18 µm. Semicells ellipsoid with truncated apex and rounded basal angles. Lateral margins with pointed and slightly curved spines, 11-18 µm in length. Semicells ellipsoid or rarely triangles in vertical view.
Ecology
Freshwater planktonic alga prefers acidic, oligo-mesotrophic water bodies.
